One New Year's resolution you should have

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Times like this are fantastic!

It's like life saying two things to me: for the area of my life I'm good at: "Keep up the good work and aim for greater things!";
And for those areas needing improvement: "This is a new beginning for you!".
I love the reset button it gives to everyone. Specifically the button of hope.
Every year brings itself lots of messages and learning.
And one of those I've learned this past year is that if there's one message people need, that would be the message of hope.
And you know what, I agree.

That's why I've committed myself to share that message of hope in any way I can to people around me. I control myself not to spread any negative vibes and simply support people, appreciating and affirming the good in them and their dreams.

And guess what, that brings out the good not just in other people but in me as well.
So if there's one resolution I can share you, I urge you to do the same and simply support people in their own pursuit of their dreams, even if your logical self says otherwise. Before you know it, you're slowly being transformed to a much joyful and accomplished person.

Whenever I take a peek at myself in the last years, I can't help but smile to see the big difference I attained when compared to myself now.

I want you to have that sense of fulfillment.
So no long list of resolutions from me. Just enjoy people! Enjoy their nature! Enjoy their own world!
Enjoy the new year!
Have fun investing (in people!)

- Omeng \(",)/

What's your investing plan for 2013?

The Stock market has been good in the past few weeks.
As a matter of fact, Truly Rich club has sent the most number of updates during that time since I started being a member of the club. In a span of two weeks, it sent out several sell orders, upgraded some stocks in its recommendations list, and added new candidates for monthly buying.

Here are some of those updates for recap quoting from Dec Stocks Update:

SELL BPI – November 27, 2012We have been prompted to SELL BPI as it has already hit our Target Price of P91. As mentioned in Bro. Bo’s Sell Alert, COL analysts feel that above P91 is already overpriced. Its up-move during that time was caused by the merging of PNB and BPI. Congrats to those who made a good return with BPI!
SELL SMPH – December 4, 2012Just like BPI, SMPH has also hit its Target Price of P17. Thus, Bro. Bo came out with a SELL SMPH alert as well. For those who were able to sell, good! Your investment and patience have been rewarded! If you were unable to sell at that time, you may choose to continue to either hold SMPH and wait for it to go back up to P17 and then sell, OR you may take your profits and sell now and use the money you’ll get from the sale (divide them into six parts) and buy our other SAM Stocks that are still below their Buy Below Price.
SELL AC – December 10, 2012How quickly did AC go up! It has already reached our Target Price of P520. Thus, we are calling a SELL for AC. Great, we’re making money! Sad though that we weren’t able to accumulate more shares of this stock because it went up too quickly. Again, from the cash you get from this sale, divide them by six, and invest only one part for every month buying our other SAM Stocks that are still under their Buy Below Price.

What does that mean to you? - That sticking to your monthly investments can bring enormous passive wealth for your future.

The year 2012 has witnessed a great growth for the Philippine stock market. What will happen to 2013?
For members, it actually doesn’t matter. They'd just apply the same principle while seeking more ways to add to their investments.

How about you?

Enjoy the Monday! Enjoy the week!
Have fun investing (faithfully)!

[Free Article] How do you know if a stock is expensive? by Henry Ong

QUESTION: I have been planning to invest in the stock market but share prices have been rising quite fast that I find it expensive to buy now. I don’t want to rush into buying a stock then regret it later because I could not sell it at a profit. Is there a way for me to pick the right stock? Please advise—Hazel Cruz by e-mail

Perhaps while you're reading this, we're simply having fun with fifty kids  in Jollibee Philcoa.
Our Gawad Kalinga partner calls them "sibol", as they are age three to six years old.
At their very young age, I'm sure that while this is just a tiny present for them, the joy will be much bigger for those who were part of it.

[Video] The Life of Retirable Filipinos

Just sharing with you a short video about The Life of Retirable Filipinos.
This video relates to the survey of the Philippine National Statistics Office regarding to all Filipinos with the age range from 60 to 65 years old. Most of them 45% still dependent on their children and relatives to survive, 30% dependent on their government/private pension, 23% still working because no one cares for them and only 2% has financial freedom..

I am personally moved by the stories featured in the video.

May we all learn to prepare for our own retirement so we can be able to help even if we stop working at our old age. Yes, helping doesn't have an ending point, but we need first to help ourselves before we can be able to extend it to other people around us.
Lesson: Act early! The earlier you begin, the easier it will be to prepare for that stage.

Have fun investing (as early as you can)!

More profits with less efforts - Investing in Philippines Stock Market The TrulyRichClub Way!

Today I'd just share with you the most recent Stocks Update I received from the Truly Rich Club.
While it is discouraged to give paid information to non-members, I felt the need to share it this time as I see it more applicable to non-members of the club.
You see the title of the update is "Why Doesn’t Everyone Invest Using the Truly Rich Club Way?" Obviously, the content is more useful for those still standing on their toes of joining.

As you know, stocks update is just one of the many components of the package (it has eleven!). But since this is a stocks investing blog, Stock Update is the most relevant part to share here.
Read below if you want to know the answer why it isn’t everyone who invests the Truly Rich Club way!
Sit back, relax and enjoy this free article!

Hear Christmas Carol at Philstocks! :)

This will be short!
I'm just surprised when I started hearing some Christmas carols after logging-in to my Philstocks account! HAHA
The music is so relaxing, a perfect melody in an early morning!
They have also made some decoration in their platform!
Because of this, I'm promising to be a faithful customer of Philstocks HAHA. (Emotional reasoning at work!)

Christmas is now really around the corner!
And I surely know that many investors who have just started investing this year have been receiving early Christmas presents from the booming Philippines Stock Market! Well, let's wait until the end of this holiday season, I feel there would be much more!

Top 3 Key Points Why Choose BPI Trade

Among several online stockbrokers available in the Philippines, BPI Trade, while one of the oldest stockbrokerage firms in the country is obviously lagging in terms of the attention they're getting from new investors.

Philstocks.ph by Accord Capital has already made exciting improvements in their trading platforms along the way together with other leading online stockbrokers COL Financial and FirstMetroSec. The fact that these big firms start to invest in their services can most probably be linked to the rising number of investors as Philippines continues to grab the limelight in the international investment arena. Are you not happy you're living in this phase of the Philippines stock market in perfect poise to give rewards to its faithful investors?

It's good news that BPI Trade is also starting to improve its own stock trading platform! It's never too late as they say.

Here's an email I received from them as their client:

Four Signal Alerts for New Investors... and What You Can Do!

The Philippines Stock Market has undeniably experienced tremendous growth this year.
Yesterday’s headline is another good news for us Filipino investors where a Canadian PM is hailing Philippines as theAsia’s Rising Tiger.

Market updates like this fuel the market all the more which translate to profits and growth in investment for many.

But that doesn’t mean to just accept whatever bit of info you see scattering around.
We need to be all the more careful on what to process in our mind especially that a lot of self-acclaimed gurus are now rising together with the rise of the stock market.

Below are some gentle guides to remind you on that.
If you see anything of below, that’s a sign you need to be more alert with what they feed you.

Five Questions You Need to Ask When Starting to Invest!

Here’s our first shot in our Stocks, Soups and Stories series! The goal is to share one story at a time to inspire others in achieving their financial goals through investing in the Philippine Stock Market.

Read below and be inspired!

The Story of Mr. Marlowe Alain Tadili.

Guess how I was able to attain 100% gain!

If you know my stocks investing story, you would know that Philstocks by Accord Capital was my first online stockbroker.
When I learned of COL later on, I decided to consolidate my investments there and make it as my main broker.

To do that, I sold whatever stocks in Philstocks account I could sell for profit so I could immediately transfer the cash to my COL trading account. That way, I would only have to monitor one account.

The only stock that effectively remained in my Philstocks portfolio was MEG, which was also the first ever Philippine stock I bought.

Now when I checked my Philstocks account yesterday, the screen says I had 100% gain! Woah!

But is it? Can you have a guess on how I was able to achieve 100% gain?

What are the phases of stocks order processing in Philippines Stock Market?

What are the phases of stocks order processing in Philippines Stock Market?

Order matching in Philippines stock market seems to be a very direct process.
Whenever you put your order via your online brokers, it gets posted and matched right away that we don’t see what it actually went through before it brought to you your first stocks.
This is a short article that will tackle that.

Bo Sanchez’ Maids Investment Update – Now Richer than Many Managers

Bo Sanchez’ Maids Investment Update – Now Richer than Many Managers

Hello Millionaires!
A short story first!
Yesterday, I bought new three books, worth 1117.50.

First is Rick Warren’s Purpose Driven Life, one that I’m confident will strengthen my overall life. For its price of 225 pesos, I think it’s already a great investment considering the lifelong impact it could have and the many aspects of my life it could touch. The funny thing is that I already subscribed to the idea of living one’s life for a purpose long before I knew this book. So reading this will act like more as an affirmation of my beliefs now. It’s good to be affirmed once in a while, right?

The second book is The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John C Maxwell and the third one is The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss.

I bought the leadership book by Maxwell because I recently felt like God is calling me to do bigger things which I will share soon with you. While I already had some leadership roles back in college, I realized I’ve lost touch of its influence because of the independent-most-of-the-times type of work I have now. The price of the book is 500 pesos.

COL Financial Group Inc is currently the leading online brokerage firm in the Philippines.

But just like anything else, it has its own humble beginning. And behind that rags to riches story, one name stands out – the current Chairman and Founder of COL Financial Group Inc.

His name is Edward K. Lee.

How is Average Cost Computed in Your Stocks Investment Portfolio in COL Financial?

How is Average Cost Computed in Your Stocks Investment Portfolio in COL Financial?

One of the beauties of the new COL Financial stocks trading platform is that it shows you the net values of your stock portfolio. This is inclusive of all the stockbrokers’ commissions and fees involved in buying and selling transactions in Philippine Stock Exchange.

That means, if you log-in to your COL Financial Trading account, and one day decided to just sell whatever stocks you have at their prevailing market prices, you’d get exactly whatever amount is shown in your computer screen.

You can get free excel file here that will compute the costs of your buying and selling transactions. You can also read this stocks investing tip that will help you maximize the fees involved and squeeze the most out of your hard-earned cash.

Now to answer our question in this blog, below is an easy guide in computing the average cost of the stocks you buy. It’s just like computing your grade average in schools, also known as general weighted average.

What is Partially Matched Order Status in Philippine Stock Market?

What is Partially Matched Order Status in Philippine Stock Market?

Whenever a market participant puts a buy/sell order, the Philippine Stock Exchange system will automatically look for a corresponding seller/buyer to match that order. The overall process is detailed here - Stock Order Matching Process in Philippine Stock Market.

In this blog we’ll go one step deeper and have a look on partial matching of stock orders.

Factors in Order Matching

The Ant Philosophy (Jim Rohn)

We Pinoys are familiar with the elementary fable Si Langgam at si Tipaklong.

The story is essentially teaching its readers the value of preparing one’s future at the present. I never thought that after 15 years, I would need to remind myself with its golden lesson when it comes to managing my finances.

And I know that every hardworking man should be reminded too of its morals so as not to put to waste whatever it’s they’re working on now.

Are you a langgam, or a tipaklong?
The choice, as always, is yours.

Read below Ant Philosophy by Jim Rohn I got from our group and let it guide and inspire you this new start of the week.

Have fun investing (with an inspiration from the ant)!

Is it good to buy preferred stocks? (by Henry Ong)

What is a blue chip in stock market?

Here’s an interesting account from what Sir Gus Cosio has to say about blue chip in the stock market.

"The term "blue chip" as I recall, arises from the white, red and blue chips that poker players use instead of cash. White chips are the smallest denominations and are normally used for ante. The red chips have the second largest denomination while the blue chips are the largest. The logic of poker players is to be able to stay in the game as long as they can because the chances of being dealt a very high hand would increase as the game progresses. For this reason, poker players keep the blue chips for high probability winning hands. Hence, the term blue chips in stock investing implies the high probability of profit or the sure thing. Technically, traditional fund managers define blue chips as stocks that have proven earnings model, regular dividend payout and steady growth prospects. Blue chips do not remain blue chips all the time. Some examples in the US are General Motors and Ford. Harsh economic conditions can alter the fortunes of even the strongest companies. AAPL, for one was a NASDAQ company for a long time, now it is the largest market capitalization in the world at 600 billion. In short, the term blue chip should be appreciated in both the intrinsic and extrinsic conditions of companies. This should tell you that there is no substitute for a regular review of investments in your portfolio. Blue chips may turn it's color."
